PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It is made from a small sample of your own blood. A centrifuge separates and concentrates the platelets, which contain proteins involved in the body’s repair process.
The prepared PRP is then used in the treatment area. At Steele Creek Dermatology, PRP may be used to address uneven skin texture or areas of thinning hair.
For skin rejuvenation, PRP may also be combined with microneedling, which creates small channels in the skin before the PRP is applied.
For hair concerns, PRP is administered to areas of thinning hair. Because response varies from person to person, your provider will discuss the expected timeline and the effectiveness of PRP treatment based on your individual goals.
CONSULTATION
Your provider will discuss your concerns, treatment goals, and medical history to determine whether PRP may be appropriate for you.
BLOOD DRAW AND PREPARATION
A small blood sample is collected and placed in a sterile centrifuge. The centrifuge separates and concentrates the platelet-rich plasma used during treatment.
TREATMENT
The prepared PRP is administered to the area being treated. For skin rejuvenation, PRP may also be combined with microneedling. When treating hair concerns, PRP is administered to areas of thinning hair.
RECOVERY AND RESULTS
Results develop gradually and vary from person to person. More than one treatment may be needed depending on the concern being addressed and your response to therapy.
TREATMENT PLAN
Your provider will recommend a treatment plan based on your individual needs. For hair restoration, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart may be recommended.
Is PRP therapy right for you?
