IPL Photofacial

Sciton IPL treatments use targeted light energy to improve redness, pigmentation, sun damage, and uneven skin tone with little to no downtime.

What is an IPL photofacial?

IPL, or intense pulsed light, is a non-ablative treatment that uses multiple wavelengths of light to address visible pigmentation and vascular concerns. An IPL photofacial may be used for redness, vascular lesions, pigmented spots, freckles, age spots, and other signs of sun damage.

Unlike a traditional laser, which uses a single wavelength of light, IPL delivers a range of wavelengths in a series of pulses. Different structures in the skin absorb this light energy, allowing treatment to target discoloration and redness while leaving surrounding skin largely unaffected.

IPL is one of several cosmetic dermatology treatments available at Steele Creek Dermatology. The concerns that may respond to an IPL photofacial depend on your skin and treatment goals.

WHAT CAN IPL TREAT?

What can I expect from an IPL treatment?

A Sciton IPL treatment typically takes about 20 minutes, although treatment time varies depending on the areas being addressed and your individual goals. Pulses of light are delivered to the treatment area using settings selected for your skin and concerns.

IPL generally requires little to no downtime. Some improvement may be noticeable after the first treatment, although a series of treatments may be recommended. Steele Creek Dermatology typically recommends four to six sessions spaced three to six weeks apart. The appropriate number of IPL treatment sessions will depend on your skin and response to treatment.

Your provider will evaluate your health, skin concerns, and goals before determining whether IPL is appropriate for you.

IPL PHOTOFACIAL CAN HELP WITH THESE CONDITIONS:

IPL uses a range of light wavelengths delivered in pulses, while traditional laser treatments use a more focused wavelength of light. This allows IPL to address several types of pigmentation and vascular concerns.

IPL may be used for redness, vascular lesions, pigmented spots, freckles, age spots, sun damage, and mild fine lines and wrinkles.

A treatment typically takes about 20 minutes. The exact appointment length can vary depending on the size and number of areas being treated.

Some patients may notice improvement after one session, but Steele Creek Dermatology typically recommends a series of four to six treatments spaced three to six weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your individual needs.

IPL generally involves little to no downtime. Your provider will explain what you can expect after treatment and any care instructions you should follow.
