How Quickly Does BOTOX Start Working?

So many anti-aging products claim to eliminate lines and wrinkles, but it can take months of consistent use to see the slightest difference in the appearance of your problem areas. At Steele Creek Dermatology in Charlotte, NC, we offer BOTOX, a fast-acting injectable that provides a safe solution for expression lines, restoring smooth skin within days of the initial treatment.

How Quickly Does BOTOX Start Working?

Unlike dermal fillers, neuromodulators don’t deliver instant results. However, they are relatively fast-acting, so you can expect improvements in the appearance of your skin within days of your appointment. It can take three to five days to see results, with the best results evident 30 days after treatment. Most patients notice an improvement in their expression lines one week after treatment.

What Is BOTOX?

BOTOX is a neuromodulator, a wrinkle-relaxing cosmetic injectable that blocks communication between the brain and the muscles to temporarily soften and eliminate expression lines from the treatment areas.

The active ingredients are called neurotoxins and are highly purified proteins that are completely safe for treating wrinkles. This injectable has been used worldwide for over 20 years to help men and women achieve wrinkle-free skin and maintain the results long-term.

What Areas Can It Treat?

BOTOX is FDA-approved to smooth expression lines on the forehead, at the outer corners of the eye, and between the eyebrows. Not only is it a popular solution for common expression lines, but it also has some off-label uses to help patients achieve different aesthetic goals, and it can even be used to address some muscular-related medical conditions.

Patients can undergo treatment to address several areas of concern or one primary treatment area. We design customized treatment plans for each patient to ensure we meet their exact needs and can perform the most comprehensive treatment possible.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Once you achieve your desired results within a few days of your appointment, you can expect to enjoy them for three to four months. On average, patients will schedule follow-up treatments after three months to maintain wrinkle-free skin. In some cases, results can last much longer, up to six months. Ultimately, the length of your results depends on your body’s metabolic rate and how quickly it processes the ingredients in the product.

After your initial treatment, you’ll get a better idea of how quickly your body processes the active ingredients in BOTOX and eliminates them from your system. As it does, you’ll notice that your expression lines will gradually reappear, and your treatment area will resume its pre-treatment appearance. Maintenance treatments every three to four months are the best way to maintain the most consistent results over time.

Can I Make My Results Last Longer?

You can’t extend your results because your body will predetermine how long they last. However, there are some ways that you can enhance your results. This injectable will improve your appearance by smoothing the most common expression lines, but it won’t improve skin health. BOTOX results look best on healthy, glowing skin.

We offer several different professional skin care treatments that will promote skin health that you can combine with your regular injections to maximize the treatment results. Some of our professional skin care treatments include:

  • Chemical peels
  • Laser treatments
  • Dermaplaning
  • Microneedling
  • Photofacials
  • Dermal fillers

Can It Be Combined With Dermal Fillers?

You can undergo BOTOX and dermal filler treatments simultaneously to achieve the most comprehensive results. Patients who want to target expression lines and areas affected by volume loss can receive BOTOX injections and the right combination of dermal fillers to enhance their appearance and reverse the aging process.

We can give you more details about our dermal fillers at your initial consultation and determine which product or combination of products can address your problem areas.

Who Is It Right For?

The best candidates for this wrinkle-relaxing injectable are patients with healthy skin who are in good health and are not allergic to the active ingredients in the product. Pregnant and nursing women do not qualify for treatment for safety reasons. The best candidates are those who meet the treatment qualifications, are over the age of 18, and understand that results are only temporary and follow-up treatments are necessary to maintain long-term results.

Before your treatment, we will perform a pre-treatment evaluation to determine whether this injectable is right for you. Then, you can move forward with a treatment to help you achieve your goals and feel more confident about your skin.

Is It Safe?

This injectable is completely safe for cosmetic use. It’s been tested, studied, and proven to be an effective cosmetic treatment for those who want to eliminate expression lines. It’s safe and can help you reach your goals so you can live wrinkle-free for several months at a time.
