How Long Do Juvederm Treatments Last?

Using dermal fillers to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles has become a popular way to get a smoother, more youthful complexion. Juvederm is one of many dermal fillers on today’s beauty market, but unlike other fillers, its long-lasting effect sets it apart. Whether you are new to fillers or you are looking for a reputable office for beauty treatments, our experienced team at Steele Creek Dermatology in Charlotte, North Carolina wants to welcome you into our world.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers provide a temporary yet long-lasting solution to fine lines and wrinkles. They are injected into the area of concern and fill in skin creases and hollow areas, making the skin appear younger, fuller, and smoother. Not only do they help with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but they also can add volume to the lips, cheeks, and even the hands.

What Are They Made Of?

Fillers are usually composed in a gel-like form and contain substances that effectively fill in lines, smooth creases, and add volume to problem areas. They usually consist of one or a variety of the following substances:

  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite
  • Collagen
  • Synthetic poly l-lactic acid

What Is Juvederm?

This unique filler is made of a smooth gel and is injected into the areas that show fine lines and wrinkles or have lost volume. Juvederm is typically injected into the face, most commonly in smiles lines, vertical lines, and marionette lines but also can be used to bring youth back to aging hands.

What It Actually Does

This filler provides a temporary cure for the wrinkles and lines that have developed on the face due to aging. As your skin ages, the hydrating hyaluronic acid that you once had in plenty and was responsible for that youthful glow begins to decrease.

That fact, combined with sun exposure, environmental factors, diet, and the stresses of everyday life result in wrinkles, fine lines, and structure and volume loss. Through the infusion of hyaluronic acid into your skin, this filler will temporarily add volume and smoothness to where it has been lost.

What It Treats

While this filler can be used to plump the lips as well as add volume to the cheeks and hands, it is typically used to smooth lines. It successfully treats marionette lines: the lines that develop around the corners of the mouth and pull your face downward, making it appear to sag. It also treats smile lines, the lines that reach from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth, as well as vertical lines located near and above the lips.

Types of Juvederm

There are several types of this filler, including Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC. We will determine which of these two fillers is the best to treat your skin concerns prior to your injection. We will create a custom treatment plan for you based on the severity of your wrinkles, folds, and lines.

How Long Do Results Last?

The words temporary and long-lasting typically don’t go hand in hand, but in this case, they do. Even though this is a temporary treatment, when compared to other temporary fillers of its kind, Juvederm wins the award for its long-lasting results.

After your first series of injections, you won’t have to worry about losing the effects of your results in a few weeks. The effects of other similar fillers only last for a few months, but Juvederm lasts the longest, giving you results for as long as one year.

How Do I Prepare for My Appointment?

Prior to your injections, you will have a consultation with our experienced staff. We will thoroughly prepare a treatment plan for you based on your individual skin needs and concerns so that you can rest assured you will get the best results possible.

What Does It Feel Like?

Unlike other fillers, Juvederm contains the anesthetic lidocaine. As a result, you can rest assured that choosing this injection will reduce discomfort both during your injections and after your treatment is over.

What Happens After My Appointment?

Following your appointment, there are some precautions you must take in order to get the best results possible from your injections. You will need to skip the gym, avoid alcohol, stay out of the sun, and avoid excessive heat for at least 24 hours following your injections. From then on, it’s smooth sailing.
