How Can You Fix Sun Damaged Skin?

They say that beauty is only skin deep. While we believe in the beauty of the whole person, we also know how important healthy skin is to looking and feeling young and confident. Sun damaged skin can become leathery, blotchy, and prematurely aged. At Steele Creek Dermatology, we provide the solution to restoring youthful, smooth skin, and confidence to match the beauty of the person within.

Is Sun Damage Reversable?

We can reverse skin damage using some highly specialized skin care techniques and products. Our expert team will meet with you for a consultation to determine the best possible treatment for your skin. No matter your age, skin type, or level of damage, we excel in finding skin care solutions to bring your skin back to health.

Treatment Options

We have a range of treatments available to restore your sun damaged skin’s softness and smoothness.

Chemical Peels

This process allows us to gently remove the outermost layer of skin, or epidermis. This layer is where most of the sun damaged skin resides. Removing it takes away the roughly textured, leathery exterior and allows the underlayer of newer skin to emerge.

Botox and Juvederm Filling

These products are fillers that our experts inject under the surface of the skin with ultrafine needles. The products temporarily relax the muscles and eliminate the appearance of lines and wrinkles which form as a result of sun exposure.

Skin Revitalizing Products

We also offer a full line of Obagi NuDerm skin care products and other topical ointments to restore youth and health to the skin.
These products are specifically designed to:

  • Reverse the skin’s aging
  • Brighten the skin
  • Promote new skin growth
  • Repair skin cell DNA
  • Improve the complexion
  • Balance the skin’s pH
  • Remove dry, rough skin
  • Restore skin’s youthful appearance

The Obagi Difference

The NuDerm products developed by world famous dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi are able to work at a deeper level than alternative brands. Their ability to work directly in the dermis with the cell’s DNA allows these products to actually create new skin, rather than simply bleaching the old discolored skin surface. It works by repairing DNA and renewing the cells themselves. They not only correct damage but improve the skin’s ability to protect itself in the future.

Instead of painting over imperfections, the Obagi products healthfully regenerate the skin, giving it the chance to start over again. Years of damage and weathering can be replaced by new, young skin with the beautiful smoothness and brightness that comes from being fresh and unadulterated. You can actually turn back the clock and get the skin of your childhood back.

Certified Staff

Our Obagi certified staff will work with you to develop a unique treatment regimen that best suits your needs. Everyone’s skin is different, and we want to ensure that your treatment will provide the best results for your unique situation. Some of the products in the treatment may require a prescription, so after we decide on a course of action together you will need to visit your physician to obtain the products.

NuDerm Product Treatment

Erasing Pigmentation with Hydroquinone

Dr. Obagi has created a skin care line that utilizes hydroquinone and advanced cellular rejuvenation technology to restore the health and even tone of skin. Hydroquinone works to gently erase pigmentation of the skin in the form of sunspots, age spots, melasma, and even scars and acne.

The process works gradually, ensuring that the skin is rejuvenated safely and healthily. After two weeks of using the treatment, you should begin to see an improvement in the coloration of your skin. New, smooth, and unblemished skin will be slowly replacing the old and damaged outer layer. In six weeks, you will see a marked difference in your skin’s color and texture.

Removing the Outer Layer of Damage

The NuDerm Exfoderm gently exfoliates the skin and assists in the removal of the outer layer of sun damaged skin. Just as the chemical peel pries the outer roughened surface off, this product gradually reveals the new, young skin hiding underneath the damaged top layer. This product works in tandem with the other NuDerm products by removing old skin and stimulating the growth of new, young skin.

Managing the Production of Melanin

The Obagi NuDerm Blender works at the cellular level to manage the healthy production of melanin and remove age spots. Melanin is a natural pigment found in the skin which helps to protect us from the sun’s potentially harmful rays. By darkening our skin through the process of tanning, melanin attempts to create a barrier of protection for the dermis below. This darkening process, or pigmentation, can also lead to sunspots, age spots, and melasma.

The NuDerm Blender seeps into the dermis, deep below the surface of the skin, and works to reduce the cellular production of melanin. This process prevents the further pigmentation of the skin, or formation of sunspots, and also reduces its current effects. It further acts on the cells to regenerate new, youthful skin, free of blemishes and discoloration.
